Values and vision

St Alphonsus’ RC Primary School places emphasis on a whole-school approach. The school aims for all staff to provide children with realistic learning goals in a broad, appropriate curriculum. Children are nurtured and developed educationally, socially, emotionally, culturally and spiritually through its curriculum design and teaching approaches.

The school promotes diversity by celebrating other religions and cultures in assemblies and holding a multicultural day during the summer term. Teachers deliver a curriculum that supports positive understanding of difference, recognises the contribution that diversity makes to society, and challenges stereotyping and discrimination.

St Alphonsus’ RC Primary School ensures children consistently take responsibility for their own behaviour, care about others and respect their rights. Staff create opportunities for children to develop self-esteem and help to create a place where everyone can learn and feel safe. The school teaches children that they have control over their actions and encourages them to make positive choices.
