Mayfield Special School educates pupils with SLD, PMLD and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The school is operational on three sites which are 12 miles apart.

At our school site we are looking to employ a Level 4 Teaching Assistant to work with our young people who need extra support throughout the day due to their behavioural and complex needs.

The job will comprise of:

• Responding to behaviour incidents 
• Support and monitoring of Positive Behaviour Support Plans
• Data monitoring and analysis 
• Working with class teams to implement effective strategies to support regulation 
• Supporting the Behaviour Lead 

Desirable skills:

• A passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support students with complex needs
• Experience of working with young people who can exhibit behaviour that can challenge
• A good understanding of SEN needs and reasons for complex behaviour
• Experience of physical restrictive intervention strategies would be an advantage
• The ability to be a great team player and also be able to work independently and use initiative
• An open-minded and inquisitive approach to the job but the ability to work to agreed strategies and procedures
• The ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with children, fellow staff members and families
