The main duties and responsibilities of a Librarian at Multinational School – Bahrain are:
• Curating a vibrant collection of books, eBooks, audiobooks, and other resources that spark curiosity across all ages and abilities.
• Managing the day-to-day book borrowing process and late and lost books fines system.
• Maintaining the library asset inventory.
• Preparing lesson plans for weekly library classes from Nursery to Year 8 to improve literacy.
• Collaborating with teachers to ensure library resources and classes align with curriculum goals and student needs.
• Organizing and maintaining the library space, creating a haven for exploration and discovery.
• Instilling a love for reading through engaging story times, book clubs, and author visits.
• Equipping students with information literacy skills, teaching them how to find, evaluate, and use credible sources effectively.
• Conducting research workshops helping students navigate databases, online tools, and primary sources.
• Supporting individual research projects, offering guidance and feedback throughout the process.
• Fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills through inquiry-based learning activities.
• Hosting author talks, co-ordinating at least 2 annual Book Fairs, and literary events that celebrate the power of storytelling.
• Organizing movie screenings, game days, and digital media workshops that connect reading to other forms of expression.
• Collaborating with teachers to integrate technology and digital storytelling into lesson plans.
• Encouraging creativity through writing contests, poetry slams, and bookmaking projects.
• Fostering a welcoming and inclusive space where all students feel safe to explore, learn, and grow.
• Partnering with teachers and administrators to create a school culture that values reading and lifelong learning.
• Supporting students with diverse needs, offering differentiated instruction and accommodations.
• Connecting with families and the community, promoting the library as a vital resource.
Beyond the books, the school librarian is also expected to:
o Manage library budgets and resources.
o Perform the stock control and distribution function of the school stationery stores.
o Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
o Contribute to school curriculum development and committees.
o Stay updated on educational trends and technologies.
o Perform cover duties for the teaching staff.
o Perform break time and dismissal time duties.
o Participate in the After-School Clubs.
In addition, the Librarian is expected to teach Computing to Years 1 and 2.
The main duties and responsibilities of a teacher at Multinational School – Bahrain are:
• To plan and deliver lessons that are engaging and relevant.
• To comply with students safeguarding protocols.
• To create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• To assess student learning and providing feedback.
• To communicate with parents and guardians.
• To collaborate with other ICT academic staff.
• To participate in professional development activities.
• To adhere to the subject operational plans.
• To timeously complete any and all administrative tasks.
• To maintain a professional demeanour and appearance.
• To complete any ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as required.

Introduction

Multinational School Bahrain is an inclusive BSO (British Schools Overseas) accredited private school situated in the suburb of Adliya in Manama, Bahrain. The school caters for students from Nursery to Year 13 and boasts a dedicated Learning Enrichment Department offering support to students with varying educational requirements.

History

The school’s campus has a long and colourful history having previously housed the U.S. Embassy and the New York Institute of Technology prior to becoming a school in 2013.

The school initially followed the Australian curriculum before switching to the British curriculum under its new ownership in 2017 and is now a fully accredited British School Overseas. The vibrant and welcoming school community now comprises of over 50 different nationalities and continues to go from strength to strength.
