Introduction
Blackheath Prep is an independent prep school for just over 370 boys and girls aged 3 to 11. Founded
in 1996, it occupies a beautiful five-acre site close to Blackheath village. Its original Georgian and Victorian buildings have been extended and adapted to include large playgrounds and extensive playing fields, tennis courts, cricket nets and a Forest School area.
It is a remarkable school with outstanding facilities, a formidable track record in academic success and impressive achievements in Music, Sport, Drama and Art.
The Role
Blackheath Prep is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational Librarian.
Our children are bright, highly motivated and possess a genuine love of learning. The school encourages and promotes a love of reading and the Librarian’s main purpose will be to manage, develop, promote and evaluate effective learning resources to support learning and teaching across the school.
The successful candidate will be required to support children in Years 5 & 6 in the classroom, acting as a Classroom Assistant as necessary.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will possess a good honours degree from a respected university. They will have experience of working in a library, preferably in a school or other educational establishment, and a commitment to fostering a love of learning for all children. They will also be knowledgeable about, and have an enthusiasm for, children’s literature.
Terms of Appointment
• The post is available from September 2022 on a permanent full time basis
