Job overview

At our School we focus on preparing children for life and our School promise is for children to be happy at school and to leave us prepared for their next stage in life as confident independent learners, with high self-esteem and a sense of responsibility and tolerance in all they do.

Some experience working in a Library is preferred but not essential and must have excellent organisational skills.

- Monday to Friday 2 hrs per day, can be flexible on hours between 08.15 to 16.15

- Start date = January 2023

Job Description:-                                                                          

·        Manage the day to day running of the School Library

·        Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required by the Executive Head

·        Facilitate library based learning

·        Plan and implement Library based learning opportunities/lessons for students

·        Research and implement ideas and strategies for the development of the School Library provision and its services

·        Assist in implementing short and long term strategies for the Library

·        Indicate Student successes and achievements, communicating with cirriculumn leads/Head of Year etc

·        Consider Year 6 students to assist with Library duties – Reward opportunity

·        Work with Teaching staff to develop and promote “Reading for pleasure”

·        Participate in schemes outside of our organization, if possible

·        Supervise students in the library

·        Select, order, organise, promote and maintain library resources to support all curriculum areas, covering the full age and ability range of the school

·        Catalogue, index and classify library resources

·        Develop both book and non book material into a resource that serves the curriculum including special needs and resources in languages other than English.

·        Minimise the loss of library resources through the implementation of the security system.

·        To manage the Library Management System and liaise with the external software providers.

·        Identify and refer students to SEN as appropriate, for required intervention.

·        Participate in the evaluation of support programmes

·        Attend relevant In-Service Training Courses and Days.

·        Establish a supportive relationship with children and parents.

·        Liaise where appropriate with external agencies.

The teaching of numeracy and literacy are a key priority and is combined with a major focus on the teaching of the Creative Arts.
