Part-time, term time only (20 hrs per week, 10.30am – 2.30pm)

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and positive Library Assistant to join our team working in our busy, vibrant but academic school learning environment. You will be part of a team providing Library services to students and teaching staff, operating library systems, supporting students and staff with finding resources, overseeing overdues, shelving, cataloguing resources and supporting time-tabled literacy classes.

The successful applicant will have a passion for literature and excellent communication, literacy and IT skills. Experience of working in a school setting would be an advantage though not essential.

The library is an academic hub of the school and is dynamic, bright and friendly. It is very well used with over 1500 pupils of all ages using it per week for a variety of reasons, from reading, research, private study and book clubs. Literacy is timetabled in the library by the English Department, promoting the importance of reading to the whole curriculum and of course not least, the love of reading.

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins

Headteacher
