We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to join our small team at CLFS. We have three lovely libraries on site, a Junior Library serving Years 3-6, a Senior Library for Years 7-11 and a Sixth Form Library. The Junior and Senior libraries are lively spaces at the heart of the School, in constant use for research and reading by all age groups and subject departments. The Sixth Form Library is intended for quiet study and reading.
Our new Library Assistant will enjoy working with children and have excellent customer services skills. Confidence in using a variety of ICT packages, experience of working in a library and a passion for reading are required. We are looking for someone with a sense of humour who will be flexible, creative and imaginative as we are constantly looking to improve our library services. Experience of working in an academic environment is desirable but not essential.
Normal working hours are 35 hours per week over 5 days, term time plus 10 additional days. The Libraries are open between 8.00am and 6.00pm so a shift pattern is in operation.
Salary for the role is £23,295 to £25,800 per annum inclusive of Outer London Weighting.

About City of London Freemen's School
City of London Freemen’s School is a mixed, selective, non-denominational all-through school with sixth form situated in Ashtead, Surrey. It is an independent boarding school owned by the City of London Corporation, which provides 16 of its 22 governors. The school will provide 920 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 7-18, when fully subscribed.
City of London Freemen’s was founded in 1854 in Brixton, where it educated both boys and girls. It moved to its current Surrey location in 1926, expanding in size to accommodate increasing numbers of students.
"Our mission is to learn, lead and make a difference. We live and breathe that ethos every day here at Freemen’s: staff and students. Academic excellence is a given, that’s the foundation of any good school and we are very firmly rooted in a tradition of achievement. However, good grades and progression to top universities only make up part of the picture here in Ashtead Park. We want to develop balanced, compassionate, rounded and unpretentious young people, who will go out into the wider world and leave a lasting impact: young people who can and will make a difference throughout their lives."
Headmaster, Roland Martin
