Term time only - 37 per week – 39 weeks per year

To support teaching and learning at UALS we are seeking a Library Supervisor to assist in the day to day running of the Library.

UALS Library is an inspiring environment for pupils to focus on research and explore new ideas. The books are the core of the collection, along with a range of online databases, to ensure that our pupils access the latest and best resources to support their academic studies and reading for pleasure. 

The Library Supervisor assists the promotion of the library to ensure that all pupils and staff have access to a broad and relevant range of reading and information resources, so that all can use the library facilities to their maximum potential. 

Their key responsibilities include:

 Supervising pupils during their private study and recreational reading

 Checking materials in and out and filing or replacing returned items

 Cataloguing new materials 

 Offering guidance to develop pupils’ research skills 

 Guiding pupils on the choice of literature to meet their curricular and leisure needs

 Assisting and promoting special events to encourage reading and independent learning

The ideal candidate will need to be ICT literate, with the ability to supervise pupils effectively and work as part of a team, with good communication and organisation skills. 

Experience of working in a library or a school is not essential.
