At West Exe, we are excited to advertise a role designed specifically to support a vital and highly successful literacy programme.
We are rightly proud of our pupil results in English at the end of Year 11. However, we recognise that this journey to eventual success can sometimes start with issues around literacy. As part of our literacy team, you would be responsible for helping these pupils feel successful in their reading and writing by supporting them to accelerate development of key skills that will allow them to fully access our curriculum.
An essential part of this role would be to work alongside both our high-performing English Department and our Learning Support team by supporting the delivery of Lexia – an online literacy platform - and other interventions. Therefore, this role would not only suit those looking to primarily work in a support setting, but also those who may be interested in teaching as a future career. Successful candidates would be considered for our Associate Teacher Programme, new to West Exe for September 2021 where teachers of the future are provided with classroom based training and pedagogical input from our ITT provider.
A good level of education is essential for this role, with the postholder having achieved at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualifications. You should be capable of developing excellent relationships with students and therefore a proven record of successfully working with young people is essential.
West Exe is part of the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust. The Trust is a values-driven, rapidly growing 2 – 16 Trust with a relentless focus on transforming lives through learning by delivery outstanding outcomes for every pupil, regardless of background. With a reputation for highly successful school improvement in very challenging circumstances, the Trust is passionate about driving up standards and raising the aspirations of all our pupils. We are committed to providing the necessary CPD for colleagues to excel in their roles.
Finally, we believe in being welcoming to all, students and practitioners alike and always value the opportunity to discuss the department with others.
