Taylor's International School Puchong is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the role of Head of Primary English. This new role in our school is an exciting opportunity for a professional who is passionate about promoting a love of literature in children. As the Head of Primary English you will not have a class responsibility but you will have a small English teaching commitment each week.
Key elements of this post include:
- Meeting with year groups to support the planning and delivery of the English National Curriculum.
- Monitoring standards of English across the primary school.
- Ensuring there is robust and reliable assessment of English.
- Supporting staff in the effective use of differentiation for children with a range of learning needs.
- Leading staff CPD and parent workshops for English.
- Ensuring that the teaching and assessment of phonics is of a high quality.
- Working in collaboration with the Head of Curriculum Support (SEND and EAL) and the Assistant Head for Learning and Teaching.
- Developing action plans and policies to support the strategic development of English in our school.
- Organising and promoting theme weeks and competitions to keep the profile of English high.
Our school offers an English curriculum with a Malaysian flavour, and is located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, catering to students from Early Years through to Year 11. The school is part of Taylor’s Education Group, Malaysia’s premier private education group which operates Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur, together with Garden International School, and Nexus International Schools (in Malaysia and Singapore), The Australian International School in Malaysia, as well as Taylor’s University. With a current enrolment of nearly 1200 (with over 30 different nationalities), approximately 14% of teachers at the school are expatriates; with the remainder of the teachers being Malaysian. The curriculum is so much more than just academic lessons and the school places emphasis not only on academic excellence, but on character building, performing as well as physical health and development. Please note that candidates should have a recognised teaching qualification, and at least 7 years’ teaching experience. International experience is highly desirable. For this post, we require candidates who are first language English speakers who have taught the English National Curriculum extensively.

TISPC caters to students from Early Years through to Year 11. The School
The school opened in January 2015 in a new award winning campus, and follows the same ethos and direction as the older KL campus.
With a current enrolment of over 1300 (with over 30 different nationalities), with mainly Asian expatriates making up about 30% of the school population), approximately 14% of teachers at the school are expatriates; with the remainder of the teachers being Malaysian.
Taylor's International School offers a holistic education, and follows the National Curriculum of England at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, adapted for Malaysia, and also the IPC in Primary. All students study Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. The school follows IGCSE courses from CAIE.
The Taylor’s International School brand has a clear ethos by which all schools will deliver holistic education that provides a solid grounding in raising the academic achievement of all students through inquiry processes and active learning. These schools are termed neighbourhood International Curriculum schools, as they offer the “best of east and west” - western curriculum with eastern values.
