Big Creative Training is a well-established and expanding creative industry training provider with a long track record of delivering positive outcomes for learners. Our mission is to improve the lives of young people through high quality training and creative industry experiences. We have more than 400 young people per year going through our vocational training programmes including apprenticeships, and they all take qualifications in maths and English. We have great industry links and work with over 100 creative sector employers and SMEs.

We are looking for an outstanding Live Events tutor to join our team based in Walthamstow, East London. The successful candidate will have maths and English at GCSE grade “C/4” or above, and will be educated to degree level with evidence of outstanding practice working with 16-19 year old learners in a city environment.

Key tasks

- The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of young people

- Plan, deliver, assess and verify the Level 3 qualification on the Live Events programme (Rockschool)

- Plan and deliver exciting lessons for learners, that support their progression

- Experience of working in the creative industries using an entrepreneurial approach

- Support learners to plan and deliver a range of performance and live events across the year including the annual company presentation evening and showcase

- Ensure learners are retained, achieve their qualifications and progress

- Ensure the course has a wide range of enrichment including guest speakers and trips

- Complete learner one to one tutorials and individual learning plans

- Use a range of assessment methods ensuring the learners are inspired to progress by outstanding and prompt feedback

- Ability to empathise with and understand the many challenges faced by young adults in a demographic with high free school meals rate and poverty levels, many of whom struggled to succeed at school

- Develop innovative ways of collaborating on projects both within the music department and with other courses in the college

•Experience of working professionally in the music industry

- Extremely organised and able to manage own work load effectively and flexibly

- Highly motivated and driven to succeed in a competitive and rewarding environment

- Outstanding teaching and communication skills and experience of good / outstanding Ofsted

- Positive, solution focused and proactive when managing and responding to data

- Assertive and self-confident in management of the learning environment

- Committed and willing to “go the extra mile” to meet targets

- Ambitious – will not settle for less than outstanding standards of work and behaviour

Salary and days of work

- The hours are approximately 19 hours per week including administration time

- The hours will be spread over four days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday including administration time

- The actual salary is £17,914 (pro rata of £33,000) for a qualified teacher and £15,096 (pro rata of £27,810) for an unqualified teacher.

- We offer 32 days holiday plus bank holidays (prorated for part time)

- To start on Monday 14th August 2023
