ACS International Schools are recruiting a Lower School and Early Childhood PE Teacher for our Cobham campus. ACS Cobham International School is looking to appoint a qualified, inspiring and dynamic teacher of Physical Education to join and enrich the learning of our students and our PE department. The post holder will be able to interact and work collaboratively in a large thriving PE department.

The primary responsibilities will include teaching a broad and varied concept-based PE curriculum to Early Childhood and Lower School students. This role is role is part of the Lower School Teaching Team and includes divisional duties and meetings as well as taking initiative in coaching and developing student participation in our extra-curricular program.

You will be working within a campus of outstanding facilities in a beautiful countryside setting, inclusive of world-class facilities like our swimming pool, sports centre, and state-of-the-art theatre.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A passion and knowledge of PE with the intent to enrich student learning.
  • A collaborative approach with colleagues to ensure the effective implementation of a concept-based PE curriculum.
  • An ability to use assessment data, student portfolios and creative resources to help continuously differentiate to meet all students’ needs.
  • An effective pedagogical approach towards creating a learning environment that maximises opportunities and allows our students to achieve the ACS core values.
  • A passion for personal/professional growth that can also contribute to the development of colleagues and the well-being of the school community.
  • Facilitating of inter class/house competitions and events alongside PE colleagues to raise the profile of PE and enhance the student’s PE experience.
  • A variety of communication techniques to inform, network and collaborate with the learning community including newsletter correspondence and student/team progress updates.
  • A compliance with all terms and conditions of employment as stated in the contract, the PE/ and ACS staff handbook, and other ACS documents (e.g. policy manual, LS notes, new teacher orientation packets etc).

Essential teaching qualifications:

  • PGCE and (or) Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Coaching or performing to a high level in one or more sports.

Desirable but not essential:

  • International experience of teaching PE to students aged 2-10
  • Experience of teaching PE /coaching a variety of sports. The ability to take a
  • Lead with girls' physical activity & sport would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of a concept-based PE curriculum & assessment tools
  • Swimming teaching/coaching qualifications and experience
  • Sports coaching qualifications
