The Zurich International School is an independent day school in the Greater Zurich Area. We offer a well rounded curriculum in English to around 1300 students from all over the world, aged 3 to 18 years. We are looking for a Lower School Learning Support Teacher.
Applicants must have at least 2-3 years of previous teaching experience in the
area of Learning Support. A background teaching English as an Additional
Language would be an advantage.
Ideal requirements:
- A Master’s Degree (or equivalent certification) in Special Education
and a valid special education teaching credential - Experience developing and implementing individualized educational
programs, monitoring student progress, and the review and revision of
IEPs, as appropriate - Experience with common educational and screening assessments for the
purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing
individual learning plans - Confidence with assistive technologies and 1:1 device programs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals
- Experience conducting in-class observations and advising teachers on how to implement accommodations, scaffolding and alternative teaching
strategies - Experience offering professional development to colleagues in the area of learning disabilities and differentiation
- Previous experience in a similar role in an elementary school environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs
- Active participation in the wider school life
- A warm, caring nature with a sense of humor
