The Blandford School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated English Teacher and Lower Years (KS3) Leader to join our thriving and supportive school. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach Year 7 to Year 11 English within a forward thinking and outward looking faculty where student achievement and progress is good. The opportunity for Post 16 teaching is possible for suitable candidates. The English faculty is at the leading edge of interventions in the school, supporting reading, comprehension and small group extraction to help students catch up where necessary. This post will also provide the opportunity to influence both the curriculum and pedagogy of the department working alongside a highly respected Head of Faculty, who is also an outstanding practitioner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • An English related degree
  • This post is suitable for both experienced candidates and those new to the profession

Our school is a vibrant 11-18 secondary school located on the north bank of the River Stour, close to Blandford Forum town centre.  The school is committed to enabling every student to fulfil their potential.  We are ambitious for our students and we encourage them to aspire.

The Blandford School has a comprehensive CPD programme, and a proven record of developing staff into middle and senior leadership roles.  Newly Qualified Teachers are mentored, and supported by an intensive induction programme.   

The school has seen the completion of a £14m capital project, with the final phase being the installation of a full-sized, floodlit artificial grass football pitch.  We are extremely proud of our facilities, which include some of the finest sports facilities in the state sector, and a thriving extra-curricular provision.  There are regular overseas trips run by our Humanities, PE and Community Sports and Performing and Creative Arts Faculties, and staff are always encouraged to introduce exciting new trips.   

Blandford Forum is located in the heart of beautiful rural Dorset, a stone’s throw from the Jurassic Coast and the award-winning beaches of Bournemouth and Poole, within half an hour of the New Forest and good links to regional airports and seaports with regular services to the Channel Islands and Continent.
