Learning support assistant (LSA)

We are seeking to appoint an LSA for a unique opportunity to work in a hospital-based school for 12 young people aged 11-17 with eating disorders. 

You will be someone who is passionate and highly motivated to achieve the best outcomes for the young people and join the school to help create an outstanding centre of education.

As a learning support assistant, you will provide on-hand support to teachers as they design and deliver classroom lessons. This will see you assist in the preparation for these lessons, ensuring that the classroom has all of the materials required and supporting pupils to engage in the syllabus.

You'll be able to think creatively and build a strong rapport with the cohort, encouraging engagement and support with their learning, behaviour and social skills progression.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Education-related qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children in a school setting.

• Excellent literacy, numeracy and ICT skills

• Hobbies/interests/skills that contribute to a wide curriculum offering

• Have experience of working with young people with SEMH needs and/or SEN

• Be able to identify and implement interventions to ensure that students engage in lessons and make progress

• Be resilient, flexible, and adaptable in approach to meet the needs of each individual

• Be able to empathise and engage easily with young people, offering appropriate and professional support at all times

This is a part time post 22 hrs - flexibility within these hours can be considered for the appropriate candidate.

Salary: Dependent on skills, qualifications and experience.

Start date: before the May half term.
