Job overview

Are you a caring and patient person who loves to work with children? Are you seeking a part-time opportunity that keeps your mornings and afternoons free?

The Castle School meets the individual needs of 175 pupils between 4 and 19 years, all of whom have learning difficulties.  As a lunchtime assistant, you will be responsible for the setting up of the dining hall with tables and chairs ready for the pupils. You will assist with delivering and serving dinners to pupils and staff. Some of our pupils require specific support with their feeding so you may be allocated to a class to help with this. Once dinner is finished the hall needs tidying and clearing ready for the afternoon and then lunchtime assistants support the students in the playground until the end of break. You will also be supporting the lunch breaks of the classroom staff during your shift.

Applicants will need to have excellent people skills and a warm and caring personality. The ability to communicate effectively with students and staff is important. Opportunities for training are available and all staff are encouraged to take up these opportunities.

Hours - 11:30-1:30pm Monday to Friday

Closing date - 11 June 2023

Interviews - w/c 19 June 2023

For more information please contact Cassy Clark on hr@castle.w-berks.sch.uk

The Castle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment and is in line with guidance in KCSIE. All shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a criminal records self-disclosure form. Successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) checks along with other relevant checks including online searches to help to identify any incidents and/or issues which may be relevant to your suitability for the role, which the school may want to explore further with you.
