Job overview

Job Purpose:

To support our school in assisting students in and around the school and supervising across the site.

The successful candidate will need to have experience working with children and be able to form positive relationships but maintain good discipline. Possess good individual and team skills and be ready to deal with a variety of situations and challenges. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Supervising and assisting pupils to return dispose of waste.

·       To report incidents of unacceptable behaviour from pupils to the designated member of staff

·       Supervising students in and around the school, playground areas and school premises ensuring discipline is maintained. Supervising and assisting pupils to return waste food, plates, unwanted drinks and cutlery to the appropriate points.

·       Undertake additional duties including the wiping of tables, cleaning of spillages and putting tables away after lunch

·       Act as carer for sick students until qualified medical assistance is available and/or student is collected by parents. Maintaining records of accidents and incidents in line with school policy.

·       To report incidents of unacceptable behaviour from pupils to the designated

·       member of staff

·       To undertake training as and when required.

 

 

Safeguarding and Child Protection

 

·        Knows what to do if they have concerns about a child

·        Takes on the responsibility for providing a safe environment and promoting children’s welfare

·        Undertakes regular safeguarding and child protection training

·        Familiarises themself with Keeping Children Safe in Education part 1 (KCSIE) and local policies and procedures as directed by the trust/academy

 

Other

·         Carries out any other duties as directed by Head teacher that are within the scope, purpose and spirit of the role

·         Attends regular continuing professional development (CPD) as required by the school, and other optional relevant CPD to develop good practice

·         Proactively takes steps to ensure their mental health and wellbeing is protected, seeking further support if appropriate

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry.  As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas.  Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023 with 3 'Outstanding' categories. Our most recent Progress 8 score was +0.42.  The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with 350 pupils on average studying either A levels or Vocational Level 3 courses.  We have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.
