Job overview

Lunchtime Supervisors

Required: ASAP

Salary: Scale: 1 Point 1 (£3,513 P.A.)

Hours: 6.25 hours per week term time only. (Note lunchtime is 12.35 - 1.35)

Situated in the heart of East Ham Plashet is an excellent comprehensive, 11 - 16 school of 1,500 students. Our Progress 8 score for 2022 was +0.96 which placed us in the top 2% of schools nationally. When Ofsted visited us in November 2022 they said: “pupils' attitudes to learning are superb” and “that the school feels like a family”.

Due to retirement of long standing team members we are seeking to appoint several lunchtime supervisors to support the school during its lunchtime provision. Our supervisory team supports calm and convivial lunchtimes through effective teamwork and effective support of the school’s key principles: to achieve excellence in learning, to promote respect for all, and to promote opportunities for all. A first aid qualification would also be most useful.

Plashet School offers:

● A high achieving, over-subscribed girl’s school producing excellent rates of student progression and examination results.

● A stimulating and challenging learning environment where we as staff are as active in, and committed to, learning as our students.

● A professional environment that is focused on maintaining staff wellbeing supported by manageable contact time, meeting cycles and assessment, recording and reporting expectations.

● The opportunity to work in a highly regarded school and as part of a strong and stable staff team

The successful applicant will have:

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

● An unerring commitment to comprehensive education.

● The commitment to make a positive contribution to the school’s inclusive ethos

Plashet School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS

Plashet School is a girls-only, comprehensive (secondary), non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school and will provide 1,500 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The history of Plashet School dates back to 1932 when East Ham Grammar School for Girls opened on what is now the school's south site. The north site was built in the 1950s and housed the Plashet County Secondary Modern School for Girls. In 1972, the two schools amalgamated into Plashet School, and in 2000 they were finally physically linked by the Unity Bridge.

Values and Vision

Plashet School recognises that 11-16 is an important stage in its students’ development. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that gives the pupils a strong academic grounding, as well as focusing on the importance of values such as confidence and respect for different cultural and religious backgrounds. The school gained Leading Edge Status in September 2004 and has held specialist science school status since 2007.

Ofsted

“Near to West Ham football stadium lies this outstanding school. Students enter Year 7 with slightly below average standards. Students’ achievement is outstanding because GCSE results are very high compared with the national average. In 2007, two students received letters from the examination board congratulating them on being in the top five candidates in their subject nationally. Students from the many ethnic minority backgrounds represented in the school all attain very high results.”
