About the Role

As a member of the Facilities and Maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining school buildings, grounds, infrastructure and equipment to the highest possible standard to provide an efficient, effective and safe teaching and learning environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance tasks as directed by the team
  • Manage door hardware and lock systems in schools
  • Respond to school requests for assistance with maintenance items
  • Work with contractors to assist them in undertaking more extensive school maintenance works
  • Drive the CE maintenance vehicle and trailer
  • Attendance to remote and regional schools with potential to work away from home overnight at times

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in a maintenance role with skill levels and required knowledge and training equivalent to the completion of a trade qualification in your area of expertise
  • Sound computer literacy skills for email, ordering and managing the schools maintenance scheduling program
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislation that relates to buildings, construction and Work Health and Safety
  • Organised with a demonstrated ability to multi-task to ensure work is adequately prioritised and completed to a high standard within timeframes
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work while working as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Current working with children registration/clearance 
  • Current driver’s license with a minimum light rigid license or willingness to acquire one is required to drive the College bus
  • Qualified carpenter, or suitable similar trade and experience
  • Elevated Work Platform license required
  • Experience in driving a work van and standard box trailer

Desirable

  • Scissor lift operator
  • White card, working at heights and asbestos certified

Other Eligibility Criteria 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.
