Maintenance Assistant

Tor View School are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join their maintenance team. We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within the site and their grounds. You will also assist in supporting our other homes in the community, liaising with contractors when on site and ad-hoc requests from management as and when necessary.

We are a Trauma Informed (TISUK) Accredited School, as we recognise how the use of PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy) is fundamental to successful relationships that support learning. These aspects also support our approach to supporting pupils and young people with autism.

An experienced Maintenance Assistant is required to help carry out the reactive day to day maintenance issues within the schools and their grounds. You will also assist in supporting our other schools and homes in the community, liaising with contractors when on site and ad-hoc requests from management, as and when necessary.

Self motivation and the ability to work with the minimum of supervision, a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise and respond to the changing needs of the school are required. An understanding of the working environment and of young people with special education needs including Autism would be an advantage but not a requirement. Ideally will have experience in some of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering (qualifications are not essential). 

It is essential that you have a full and clean driving licence including your own transport.

First interviews will take place week beginning the 11th December.
