St Margaret Mary's College is a Townsville Girls Catholic High School, founded as in 1963 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan.  The College accepts enrolments from girls Years 7 to 12, and offers a wide variety of subjects and vocational programs. The College is also noted for its many extracurricular activities, its commitment to students with special needs and its variety of service opportunities for students.


What we are looking for: 


  • Previous experience in a similar position - bus driving, maintenance, and groundsperson
  • Physically fit and able to pass a functional capacity assessment 
  • Hold a current MR Driver's License 
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or be eligible to apply
  • Willingness to undertake system based Child Protection Training
  • Willingness to undertake Workplace Health & Safety Training


The Typical Duties of the Maintenance/Bus Driver/Groundsperson would: 


  • Carry out repairs to the school's property and equipment
  • Liaise with tradespersons for progressive maintenance and repairs
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and development of the schools’ facilities
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Assists in the construction and installation of facilities and systems
  • Operates a specialised range of machinery e.g. greens, mowers, fairway units
  • Operates and/or maintains a wide range of turf machinery and equipment
  • Transport students to and from school
  • Drive with safety and due care
  • Follow school operating routes for collection and drop off of students before and after school

About St Margaret Mary’s College

St Margaret Mary’s College is an all girls’ Catholic secondary school catering for students from Year 7 through to Year 12. The school is centrally located in Townsville, Queensland. There are approximately 735 students enrolled at the school. 

The school was established in 1963 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan of the Order of St Benedict. The daily life of the College is enhanced by living the Benedictine Values and being centred on Jesus Christ. The school has strong connections with the local Parish and the Townsville Diocese.

St Margaret Mary’s College facilities include a library, textile room, chapel, computer rooms and a multipurpose sports facility.

Curriculum

Students in Year 7 to Year 10 study a broad range of subjects incorporating the nine Key Learning Areas including: Science, English, Mathematics, Business, Civics and Citizenship, Technology, Language, Religious Education and Physical Education. In Years 11 and 12 students are challenged to take responsibility for their own learning by becoming self-motivated and self-disciplined learners. The school caters for a wide range of students need, from tertiary entrance to training and vocational education. Extra-curricular activities include sports, equestrian, cross-cross country, vocal ensemble (Bella Voce), public speaking and debating, Campus Ministry and community service opportunities.
