Maintenance Manager

REQUIRED FOR JUNE/JULY 2017

A school which “provides outstanding care for pupils” and one in which

“The exemplary behaviour of pupils in lessons is a consequence of good teaching”.

ISI Inspection Report 2009

This key post offers an exciting opportunity to an enthusiastic, professional and hard-working person

who is passionate about working in a school environment and is looking for a challenging role as being the manager of a committed team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to deal calmly with the day-to-day pressure that will be evident in maintaining and improving all aspects of a large estate which forms a busy independent school.

Expertise in at least one trade (plumbing/carpentry/building/decoration) is desirable although the ability to manage others with those skills is equally important. You will need to show a willingness to work flexibly with colleagues in the teaching and non-teaching departments.

The salary will be set according to qualifications and experience. There are also very generous fee concessions with respect to staff children being educated at the College. The post is full time.

An Application Form and Job Description can be obtained from the College website (www.bedstone.org), or from Mrs Paula Davis, (pa@bedstone.org) PA to Headmaster, Bedstone College, Bedstone, Shropshire SY7 0BG, to whom completed applications should be returned.

Vision and values

The school’s main aim is to build each student’s confidence so they can achieve their full potential. Teachers strive to do this by encouraging pupils to try new things, be respectful of others and have pride in themselves and their school community. The school wants its young people to be curious, robust, adaptable and tolerant.

Bedstone College offers a broad range of subjects as well as extra-curricular activities to produce well-rounded students. Core subjects such as science, English, maths, geography and foreign languages are emphasised in the curriculum. The school excels with its recreational activities. These include mountain biking, horseback riding, ice skating and rock climbing, on campus and further afield. There are bi-annual ski trips as well as other overseas visits for different subjects. All students contribute to a very active charity committee.

ISI report

“Principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils as responsible, tolerant, law-abiding citizens. Boarders’ views are actively encouraged and their opinions and concerns are appropriately considered by staff. The prefect system operating in the school is suitably managed."
