Moon Hall School is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated full time Maintenance Assistant based at our beautiful rural location in Leigh, Reigate.

As a key member of our maintenance team, you will deliver an efficient and effective service to assist in the well-being and safety of our students and staff team.

The successful candidate will have the skills to maintain a well-decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the school in line with quality standards and statutory regulations.

Applicants should have the ability to apply Health and Safety regulations, operate and understand basic electrical and mechanical systems, able to work to and adapt risk assessments where required and a flexible approach to the role and duties.

Experience in a trade/maintenance role or similar is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

General

• Unlocking and locking of the Reigate site;

• Routine and emergency site repairs, maintenance and refurbishments;

• Completion of PPM routines;

• Routine health and safety and compliance checks;

• Liaising with Contractors;

• Porterage;

• Ad-Hoc cleaning;

• Cover for driving;

• General caretaking duties.

Grounds

• Mowing, strimming, weeding and blowing;

• Empty outside bins;

• Sweeping and gritting;

Events and Lettings

• Supporting in the setting up and taking down of all school events and thirdparty hire.

In addition, the post holder will be a registered key holder and a primary point of contact for emergency

calls.

Every staff member has a legal duty to take reasonable care of their own health & safety at work as well

as for the health and safety of others who might be affected by their actions and omissions in the work

situation.

The post holder will be expected to co-operate with management in pursuance of the Trusts health and

safety policies and procedures and will be required to complete all necessary and instructed training.

The post holder will need to demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of

children and young people.

The above duties are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake tasks, roles and

responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned to them by the Bursar or Headmistress to ensure the

smooth running of the school. This job description may be reviewed annually and it may be modified or

amended at any time during the year, after consultation with the post holder.
