Job overview

As a Maintenance Worker at a Witherslack Group school, you’ll make sure the grounds and buildings are in first-class condition. Every day, you’ll be undertaking repairs, from fixing windows and touching up or renewing paint work, to helping keep our school vehicles on the road and using your green fingers to attend to grounds and gardens. It’s a varied role and offers the chance to work with a friendly team and to take pride in creating truly attractive surroundings where our young people will thrive.

Your previous Maintenance experience, or strong background in DIY, will mean you’re a fantastic all-rounder, who loves rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in. A relevant qualification (e.g. Joinery, Plumbing, and Electrical) and knowledge of health and safety do’s and don’ts would be an advantage, but are not essential. What’s more important to us is your attitude, expertise and your naturally helpful approach. You’ll also be a great teamworker who can support and guide other employees when they’re looking for your help.

Pontville School is a co-educational, independent specialist day and residential school, providing

education and care for up to 140 pupils between the ages of 5 and 19 years with social communication difficulties, ASD and speech, language and communication difficulties. The school is set in fantastic grounds, allowing us to deliver a creatively designed curriculum, aimed at providing pupils with opportunities so that they can reach milestones in education and make progress with their emotional wellbeing and social development.

Reward

We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll enjoy a competitive salary, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, 35 days holiday (including bank holidays), Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

For an informal discussion about the role please call Genevieve Watt – Senior Administrator on 01695 578734.

Interview Date: Tuesday, 10 November 2020
