Honley High School is a large secondary school graded Good by Ofsted in 2015. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of PE to join our dedicated and well-resourced PE department. We welcome applications from both NQTs and experienced teachers who will receive dedicated support to enhance their professional development and teaching and learning practice. The successful candidate will teach both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and a full range of classes across the curriculum area. You will participate in the planning and preparation of schemes of work and participate in the regular monitoring, assessing and recording of students’ work, consistent with Curriculum Area and whole school policies.
The successful candidate will join a team committed to delivering a stimulating curriculum and maximising the potential of all learners through outstanding learning and teaching. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of high quality classroom practice (either in teaching practice or in current post), a strong team ethic, and knowledge of the curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4.
PE is one of the school’s most successful and progressive departments. We have an innovative and developmental approach to teaching and learning and work collaboratively as a team to develop outstanding practice. There is significant scope to contribute to this development through collaborative planning, resource development and delegated leadership of key areas. The successful candidate will be expected to share the team’s drive, ambition and reflective practice.
Honley High School has a strong reputation locally for academic excellence. In 2016 76% of our pupils achieved A*- C grades, with 78% making expected or better progress in Maths and English, giving us a Progress 8 score of +0.01.

NQT’s will be subject to a one year probationary period. We are looking to recruit on a permanent basis - the successful applicant will be given an initial one year contract after which they will be confirmed in the permanent job dependent on performance and meeting the standards of the school.
