Managing Director Sandwell Skills and Innovation




Location: Sandwell College, West Midlands.




Salary: c £70-80k plus generous benefits package




This is a key, new role to fulfil the college’s big ambitions and to ensure it is adequately equipped for change. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in truly innovating the curriculum offer and in raising the profile of an organisation through the development of partnership working.

The college has two state of the art campuses in West Bromwich accessible through excellent transport links and, having merged with Cadbury College, now has an exciting and growing Sixth Form College in Birmingham. 




The college is continuing with its ambitious plans for development and with the support of local Universities, Sandwell Council and NHS partners are part of a significant multi-million pound Towns Fund investment programme.




Having achieved ‘Further Education College of the year’ in 2019, the college is far from complacent knowing there is much more to do to create the very best learning environments for our students; in preparing for T-Levels and the development of large scale industrial placements – both being key aspects of this role.


The successful candidate will understand the ways in which effective, commercial activity can strengthen the student experience and they will have a successful track record in forging a broad range of employer and stakeholder relationships.




A richly experienced and inspirational leader within education, the successful postholder will have a raft of experience including policy development, engaging with employers and a deep understanding of the demands and challenges that lie ahead for the world of further education.

 It has two state of the art campuses in West Bromwich accessible through excellent transport links and, following a successful merger with Cadbury Sixth Form College, has an exciting presence in Birmingham.  

The majority of the College’s full-time students are aged 16-18, studying courses designed to give them skills for the modern workplace in a learning environment fully equipped with a specialist automotive centre, beauty and hairdressing salons, computer suites, construction workshops, engineering and science laboratories, fashion and photography studios, a sports hall and a 170-seater theatre.
