Marketing and Communications Officer

King Edward's School is seeking a Marketing and Communications Officer to join its marketing team.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will support the Director of Marketing and Communications in all aspects of marketing the School and in managing communications with both internal and external stakeholders. The role is central to the implementation of all marketing activities and the role holder will operate across the full marketing mix. There is a strong emphasis on writing for both print and the web and the role holder will need demonstrable writing skills.

This is an exciting time to join the marketing team as it develops the School's digital communications including the redevelopment of the School website. This wide-ranging role within a small team provides an excellent opportunity for someone to develop his/her career in marketing. 

The role will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Salary: £20,000 to £22,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham
Type of position: Permanent, full-time (all year round)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Holiday entitlement: 20 days per annum, plus 8 bank holidays and 4 concessionary days
Start date: As soon as possible

Key responsibilities:

Publications

  • Assist in the development and production of all school publications from brief stage through to writing content, proofing and production, including prospectus, newsletters, and flyers.
  • Assist in the development and production of all alumni publications including magazines, donor reports and fundraising collateral.
  • Produce the termly newsletter, seeking and compiling content, and managing full production.
  • Liaise with the external design agency and ensure all publications adhere to brand guidelines.

Digital

  • Day to day management of the websites ensuring content is up-to-date as well as sourcing, writing and publishing new content.
  • Together with the Director of Marketing and Communications devise and manage a communications plan for social media including Twitter, Facebook and Vimeo.
  • Develop and produce online communications to include e-newsletters.
  • Create, manage and maintain a photo library and assist in the creation and collection of multi-media content for use across a range of communication channels.

Public Relations

  • Research and draft press releases and editorial for local and national media.
  • Liaise with local press contacts where appropriate.
  • Maintain press cuttings archive and monitor effectiveness.

Other

  • Manage scheduling, booking and production of adverts and monitor and update content with third parties e.g. school directories, professional bodies, etc.
  • Undertake market research and collate marketing statistics.
  • Occasional attendance at events may be required, which may fall on evenings or weekends.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Director of Marketing and Communications, Chief Master or Governors.
