Job overview

The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and implementing marketing activities to grow recruitment, retention and brand awareness for Wetherby Kensington and liaise with Head and Registrar on matters of admissions.

Working in partnership with APG’s Marketing Director, the Head and the Registrar, the Marketing Manager is responsible for growing the school roll by liaising with setting out and implementing a marketing strategy and plans, tracking and reporting on key performance indicators.

The School

Wetherby Kensington is a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as Wetherby Egde Street and is an integral part of the Wetherby Group of schools. Boys at Wetherby Kensington receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. Wetherby Kensington is part of the Alpha Plus Group of schools, which is one of the country’s leading educational groups.

Alongside Weatheby Kensington we also have Little Wetherby at Edge Street which is the new Nursery opening in September 2023. .

Job Description 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather market insight (through surveys, mystery shopping, desktop research) to guide and inform marketing strategy
  • Help develop and communicate the school brand and value proposition, across a variety of channels (website, print literature, adverts, events, social media); widely promoting the brand within the group, the local community and beyond
  • Communicate in a consistent, accurate and professional manner with all stakeholders: parents; pupils; staff; Alpha Plus Head Office; feeder schools; local associations and the wider educational community
  • Compile, assist and write marketing materials for publication in close liaison with Head Office marketing department
  • Organise materials/stands and attending promotional events, including evening and weekend events
  • Organise regular showrounds and Open Mornings and Evenings
  • Drafting high quality communications for the press to promote the school locally and nationally
  • Manage a marketing budget and liaising closely with the Head on all financial matters
  • Develop a calendar of events (Open Days, lectures and talks, fairs etc) to advance the reputation of the school and of the Head in the local community
  • Generate pro active content-led, press opportunities with a variety of publications, act as PR Officer, particularly with regard to events, media relations, press releases and publications.
  • Grow reach and engagement through digital marketing channels, including websites, social media, PPC and Adwords campaigns.
  • Research and manage advertising in local publications, physical locations etc
  • Develop a databank of information about the School including photographs/images/video/testimonials which can be used in support of articles, publications, and on the website
  • Manage school publications, including prospectus, calendars, handbooks and produce the school magazine and weekly newsletters and the school websites.

 SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Interpersonal skills, communication skills and attention to detail are all essential
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and courteous manner
  • Excellent literacy skills

 EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience in marketing or registrar roles
  • Understanding and practice of digital marketing, content marketing, social media marketing etc
  • Experience using WordPress CMS and InDesign packages desirable.
