Job overview

This is a dynamic and varied marketing role offering the post holder significant opportunity to develop the marketing strategy and vision for South Bank Academies, currently comprising two schools, UAE South Bank and South Bank Engineering UTC.  The role demands a solid level of marketing expertise across different disciplines and, in particular, familiarity with outreach and digital marketing.  The role is ideally suited to someone with a passion for education, looking to develop their marketing career in an organisation that encompasses secondary, further and higher education and has a clear agenda for inclusive education, community impact and social change.

Led by the Executive Principal of the Trust, and working closely with the Head of Marketing at Lambeth College, this progressive and exciting role is multi-faceted and will require the post holder to work across multiple sites and adapt to individual organisational styles and requirements.  You would be responsible for new student recruitment, communication of key messages to external stakeholders, developing brand look and feel and ensuring brand integrity, website management and digital presence, including the production of content and collateral.  There would also be a requirement for you to represent the schools within the secondary education sector, writing articles for journals and sector publications.

As part of our vibrant, LSBU Group marketing community, you will be providing input to the overall Group marketing strategy and will be accountable for translating this into the day to day marketing activities for the Trust and its schools.

South Bank Academies is a Multi-Academy Trust founded and sponsored by London South Bank University.  As part of the LSBU Group, we share an academic vision and work to a common educational framework which encompasses secondary, further, higher education and beyond.

At South Bank Academies we believe education is about more than just academic qualifications; it is also about preparing students for life beyond their studies.  That’s why we strive to create an environment that promotes cultural diversity, values inclusivity, provides support, and nurtures personal development.  The Trust currently has two Academies, the University Academy of Engineering South Bank in Southwark and South Bank UTC in Lambeth.  Our vision is to provide excellent educational provision for young people from a diversity of backgrounds, securing excellent outcomes and pathways into higher education, employment or apprenticeships.

We provide employment focused educational opportunities within the broad STEM framework and, whilst each of the Academies has a distinctive specialism, the education in both schools is based on a broadly-based curriculum designed in partnership with business and industry.  We aspire for our students to graduate with strong transferrable skills that not only enhance employability but also career success. The curriculum prepares students so that they are well qualified to enter higher education and apprenticeship pathways, many within our own family at London South Bank University.

We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success, achievement, happiness, hope, confidence, respect and responsibility, reflection and service to others. We create positive climates for innovative learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and highly effective social and emotional development.

Initially our Trust team has a small staff complement, meaning high levels of personal and professional commitment along with excellent teamwork will be essential.  The successful candidate will be required to be highly adaptable and flexible.  In return, you will have the unique opportunity to play a central role in creating an exceptional organisation.

We would love to hear from you if you feel you have the skills and expertise we need for this key role.

Please note this role closes at MIDDAY on Wednesday 31st July 2019.  We are unable to accept any applications which arrive after midday due to shortlisting.  Interviews will be held on Monday 5th August 2019.

Please see our applicant information pack for further information.

We look forward to your application.

About South Bank University Academy

South Bank University Academy is a happy school with high standards of behaviour where students feel safe and secure. Our teachers build strong relationships with every student, they nurture their personal growth and through carefully designed experiences support them to become the changemakers in their world, live a good life and improve the lives of others.

Everything we do is true to our values of social justice, endeavour, kindness and empathy, and community. Our vision and these values are bold and distinctive. They are about much more than examination results and they are tangible to all those who visit and work here. We are determined to achieve this vision and we expect our staff to embody these values every day in their interactions with students and in contributing to the wider school community.

We have thought hard about what we need to teach and how we need to teach it. Through our curriculum students explore a rich body of knowledge across a broad range of subjects. We supplement this with an extensive enrichment curriculum of contextualised projects, educational visits, lectures, community work and a range of additional clubs and societies.

We invest heavily in ensuring that teachers can teach without disruption. Therefore walking around the school you would see lessons happening in calm and purposeful learning environments.

We recognise that each subject has a unique pedagogical approach which is closely tied to the curriculum that is created for students. Therefore we never prescribe particular methods of teaching. We are a learning organisation and so regularly reflect on our practice through structured training sessions as well as our Professional Learning Community where you will direct your own development.
