About the school:

Welcome to Ortu Hassenbrook Academy. We are a small harmonious 11-16 secondary school in Stanford-le-Hope with an exciting future. In September 2016, we joined the Ortu Federation and in our Trust we have Ortu Corringham Primary School, Ortu Gable Hall School and Ortu Sixth Form Centre. The opportunities at our school and across our Trust are vast; from development opportunities to teaching across all key stages.

At Ortu Hassenbrook we are on a rapid improvement journey across the board from our increasing student roll, improvements in GCSE results and Ofsted outcomes. We are one of the top 5 schools in Thurrock for progress in Maths, Science and Music. We have excellent facilities with improved IT, new science labs, food technology rooms, library, sports hall, outdoor state-of-the-art netball courts, running track and tennis courts. At Ortu Hassenbrook every student is known, nurtured and developed to their full potential as they are driven by the opportunity to succeed.

GCSE results & Ofsted 2019:

This year’s provisional results include: 63% achieved grade 4+ in English; 70% achieved grade 4+ in Maths; 100% achieved grade 4+ in Biology/Chemistry and Physics; 73% achieved grade 4+ in Drama; 100% achieved grade 4+ in French; 90% achieved grade 4+ in Music and 75% achieved grade 4+ in PE.

Our latest Ofsted inspection in May has seen improvements in behaviour, attendance and progress in core subjects. We are now looking to build on these strengths and move to good within the next 18 months.

“The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is consistently strong in the core subjects of English and mathematics.”

“Newly and qualified teachers feel that they are well supported by leaders, both informally and through a structured programme of professional development.”
