Job overview

We are seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic graduate, inspirational in teaching mathematics KS3 to KS5 including Further Mathematics. A contribution to the wider life of the school, both in pastoral and extracurricular activities, is expected, including taking on the role of Tutor.

Following a recently announced merger with the Mill Hill School Foundation, we are expecting the School to grow incrementally in the coming years. An ambition to take on management responsibility over time would therefore be an advantage.

In addition to a competitive salary, the successful applicant will benefit from teachers’ pension, small class sizes, comprehensive induction and training, use of fitness facilities and school meals. Single person accommodation can also be made available.

As a Round Square School, we strongly believe that education is about developing the whole individual and providing opportunities for students to flourish within and beyond the classroom; to become a successful learner and well-rounded individual. Providing an excellent education in Mathematics is seen as an important part of a student’s development and an essential life skill. We expect our staff to help students understand the wider application of their subjects and to assist in the development of learning skills that can be applied across the curriculum and in future career.

Central to our strategy is our Personal Discovery Framework (PDF).  Unique to Cobham Hall, the PDF reflects the skill areas and personal traits required for the 21st Century, identifying personal outcomes and helping staff and students reflect on progress. This is complemented by timetabled PDF lessons which have been designed to actively develop essential learning and life skills.

Maximum contact time is 48 hours per fortnight. In addition, staff are expected to work up to eleven Saturdays a year between 09.15 and 12.35. The School is in session 32 weeks per year.

Further details about the post and the School can be found in the applicant pack and on the School website.

COBHAM HALL – The Perfect Surroundings for Growing and Learning

At Cobham Hall, we provide a secure but challenging environment which stimulates confident thinking and a strong sense of enquiry. Small classes ensure that every student is supported according to her needs, and high standards of teaching and learning ensure consistently good results in public examinations.

We believe that young people should be prepared for real life by offering them challenges, adventure and opportunities for leadership and initiative. Freedom of thought and speech is encouraged, and students are taught to appreciate the importance of self-discipline, and to value the history and culture of others. They learn that democracy means being responsible for others as well as oneself, and girls in all year groups take an active part in the management of the school.

The size of our school means that staff and students get to know each other well, and have time to talk and listen to one another.
