Job overview

BFIS is currently recruiting an enthusiastic and internationally minded Secondary Mathematics teacher to join our International School environment. The post offers the opportunity to take on IB Diploma Classes as well as teach to Years 9 -11 .  We warmly welcome you to apply to join our young people and staff from over 60 different countries speaking over 50 languages. We offer a great relocation package and support for your transition. The school is a family away from home.

We are excited about your professional growth in the classroom as well as offering you the opportunity to expand your leadership expertise.  We aim to make coming to work an enriching and professionally satisfying experience. This is a super city and a great school to find work life balance in while professionally growing.   Barcelona has something for everyone from the mountains to the ocean and from sports to arts and cultural activities. With a fantastic public transport system staff can choose to walk, cycle or take the tram to work.

We are an International School offering an American International School Curriculum and the IB Diploma. Our forward thinking teachers and operational staff deeply value reflective practice and failing forward.

Teacher Testimonial

BFIS is always open to new ideas and strategies. It empowers staff to make a difference at the whole school and classroom level. There is a family feeling and as a staff member I always feel like I am supported, valued and listened to.  The staff and leadership care about me and how I am doing. This is the only learning community that I have worked in where the conversation on the hallways and at the coffee machine is about growth and learning. Staff are learners, students are learners and the school just keeps going from strength to strength because of the staff´s team work, camaraderie and above all else their commitment to students. This commitment is evident in everything we do."

Staff representing non-European cultures and heritages are encouraged to apply. Experience in International Education is not necessary. Simply, we are looking for great teachers that represent a diversity of experiences and viewpoints.

Child Protection

BFIS is committed to the safety of its students by creating a culture of transparency and speaking out against unsafe practices around children. The school culture is one that exposes inappropriate behaviours in relation to children thus preventing opportunities for any individuals to take advantage of young people.

Mission

The BFIS mission is to engage our diverse school community in the pursuit of educational excellence and success for all students.

Core Values

Be Kind, Be Honest, Be Responsible,  Be Respectful

Vision

We seek to strategically nurture collaborative individuals connected to the world around them who are empowered to design innovative solutions to complex problems to create a better world.

Global transformation requires a transformation in the way we think about education. We are encountering increasingly complex problems like climate change, economic and political instability, famine, conflict, and mass migration. These problems are not confined by and cannot be solved within, national borders. In September 2015, 193 World Leaders ratified 17 Global Goals. Achieving the Global Goals is the challenge of a new generation of young people. The Global Goals are deeply relevant to the learning landscape that we create at BFIS.
