Job overview

Winner of an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for 2015, The Macclesfield Academy is a successful and expanding 11-16 school serving a diverse community in South Macclesfield.    The Academy opened in 2011 with a mission to make a distinctive contribution to the provision of secondary education in Macclesfield by becoming an outstanding small school characterised by:

• a welcoming community,

• a personalised curriculum and

• an enriched experience for all our students.

The Academy has become the school of choice for many Macclesfield families.  Our numbers rose by almost 100 between September 2015 and September 2016 and we have continued to be oversubscribed so that we expect to exceed our targeted maximum of 600 in 2019.  95% of our parents say that they would recommend the Macclesfield Academy to a friend.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding  Maths Subject Leader from 1st September 2018.  Full details of our requirements can be found in the Letter from the Headteacher below, along with the job description and person specification.   If you share the vision we have outlined and have the drive and the skills to play a leading role in making it a day to day reality across the maths team, we would love to hear from you. Such is the importance of securing the improvements we need in mathematics that the Subject Leader works directly to the Headteacher who wants to work with someone who will share his determination to achieve the changes we need.  Whoever we appoint to this role can be assured of his unflinching support.

This is a crucial appointment for us and, we believe, for the right person, a career defining opportunity to lead a creative team on a journey of rapid improvement. Please read our job description and person specification very carefully.  Please pay special attention to the personal qualities which describe in detail the kind of person we are looking to recruit.  If you believe that you share our core values, could fulfil the responsibilities in the job description and match the person specification, we would very much like receive your application.

Further details are available on the Academy website at www.macclesfieldacademy.org.

Application is by the Academy standard application form (or the TES model form) which includes a supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the requirements for the post.  Application for this post must be made using the appropriate forms and sent by email only to TMArecruitment@macclesfieldacademy.org.  Curricula vitae or open testimonials will not be considered.
