Full time, permanent position

Wishmore Cross Academy, part of the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), is a residential special school in Chobham, Surrey, for boys aged 9 to 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We can admit up to 70 pupils and can offer up to 14 residential places (including extended days) on a flexible basis for up to 4 nights per week.

We provide a highly effective and individual package of education, care and pastoral support to young people who may have had only negative experiences of school. A safe, caring environment supported by high levels of staffing ensures each pupil has the opportunity to make progress and achieve their full potential.  We are a good school with outstanding features and we invest, not only in our students, but also our staff by providing regular CPD opportunities.  The academy is situated within easy reach of the M25 and M3 and, although in Surrey, is very close to Berkshire and Hampshire.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and dedicated Maths Teacher to join our teaching team.  You will work with our young people and help them achieve the best possible outcomes within KS3 and KS4.  The successful candidate will have passion for maths and will have a creative, inspirational approach to delivering the curriculum.  You should have the ability to teach from KS3 to KS4.  We have experience of supporting staff through their NQT year and we would be happy to consider applications from NQTs. We would also welcome applications from graduates looking for work experience prior to training to teach and we have a well-established Schools Direct programme.

The successful candidate will have a good degree and knowledge of specific learning difficulties and a variety of behaviour management strategies to support children would be an advantage.

All applicants are encouraged to visit the academy prior to making an application.

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of the AET academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be offered membership of a private health cash plan, pension scheme and childcare vouchers.

Closing date: Wednesday 3 October 2018

Interviews are scheduled to take place week commencing Monday 8 October 2018.

To make an application please click on the 'Quick Apply' button below.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response.  All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

Each of the academies within the AET is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate will be required for all posts.

We provide a highly effective and individual package of education, care and pastoral support to young people who may have had only negative experiences of school. Based in Chobham, located close to both the M3 and M25 Motorways in the north-west corner of Surrey, the Academy draws pupils from a range of backgrounds, both urban and rural, across Surrey and also neighbouring LEAs.

We're an Academy with a big heart. Staff work closely as a team and pride themselves on never giving up on a pupil. This is, however, a challenging environment where resilience and a deep commitment to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs are paramount.
