Job overview

Maths Teacher (0.7) for September 2022

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to deliver high-quality Maths lessons to Years 6 to 8. It is envisaged that this will be a part-time post, though the ability to offer other core subjects may provide scope for a full-time position to be created in the future.

The successful candidate is likely to be an enthusiastic and skilled practitioner who possesses a first-rate ability to teach and inspire, and who demonstrates high standards, a willingness to work hard, and the ability and motivation to be part of a committed and talented team.

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, motivated and dedicated group of staff, all of whom contribute significantly to the success of our 3-13 co-educational school. It is envisaged that, in the first instance, this will be a fixed-term post for the academic year 2022-23. A 1-term post would also be considered for the right candidate.

Salary FTE at M6 would be £36,961.

A job description and person specification are available. Further information about the appointment process and requirements can be obtained from Mrs Rosie Hankin, Support Services Office Administrator: r.hankin@exetercs.org. Information about the School can be found at www.exetercathedralschool.co.uk.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Monday 15 August 2022. Applications (a completed ECS application form and accompanying letter) should be sent to Mrs Rosie Hankin: r.hankin@exetercs.org. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are likely to take place in the week beginning 22 August. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint at any time.

Exeter Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Exeter Cathedral School is a flourishing independent day and boarding Prep School for girls and boys aged 3-13.

Founded in the 12th century as a choir school, Exeter Cathedral School now educates approximately 280 pupils. 36 of these are the boy and girl Choristers of Exeter Cathedral, who continue the centuries-old routine of leading the daily sung worship in the Cathedral.

Nowadays, we offer a fully-rounded Prep School education to pupils from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of talents and interests, whether they be sporting, academic, artistic or musical.

We have an enviable location (right in the heart of the city and yet nestled safely in the lee of the Cathedral), a maximum class size of 18 (allowing us to get know each and every pupil as an individual), a proven track record of securing places and scholarships to a range of leading senior schools, and a firm commitment to being a forward-thinking Prep School with traditional values.

Above all, we are a school where people matter, and where staff and families work in partnership to help children acquire the right habits for life.
