Job overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Maths teacher with expertise in maths enrichment and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education.
As a Maths Teacher in our school, you will play a vital role in fostering students’ interest, engagement and mastery in maths through innovative teaching methods, challenging activities, and real-world applications. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality instruction in maths while incorporating enrichment opportunities and STEM principles into the curriculum. This post is suitable for an ECT or for a more experienced teacher.
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.
If appointed, you will be joining a supportive, functional unit of dedicated, committed teachers who work tirelessly to improve the life chances of young people in our care. We are focused on delivering curricula across the key stages that reflect the knowledge and skills needed by our students at each stage of their academic development and by the end of their time at our school. There is a buzz of enthusiasm throughout the faculty and a real sense of camaraderie as we navigate our course through the next stage of our journey. Staff are extremely positive about the school and the Faculty and go the extra mile to teach great lessons and build positive relationships with the students they teach.
Working at GCA
The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover at GCA is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.
Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and most of our staff are involved in running at least one.
The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.
