Job overview
Due to ill health our Maths Teacher is not able to return next term so Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is looking for an Maths specialist for its Savannakhet Campus. This campus has just completed its fourth year having been started to support the development of Savannakhet, about an hour's flight from the capital Vientiane.
Our school has grown to almost 150 pupils from Nursery to Year 10. In many ways the school is like a large family and because of its size all staff have to be comfortable supporting all age ranges at various times. Classes are small and the team has a strong collegial approach and relationships with the community are positive. .
The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable and experienced in teaching students for whom English is an additional language. We are looking for someone who will bring ideas to make Maths an exciting vibrant subject and who will think 'out of the box' for ways to develop the subject in the school. An understanding of differentiation and plenty of enthusiasm are prerequisites.
Savannakhet is a large town separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is literally 5 minutes from school and the town of Mukdahan possesses a range of amenities including big stores, an international hospital and more. For those with a sense of adventure Savannakhet is an ideal location to be - and this is a particularly good time to join us as 2018 is Visit Laos Year with lots of cultural and other events.
For the successful candidate our package includes a tax-paid dollar salary (paid in dollars and kip - the local currency), travel allowance, daily lunch and other benefits. Specific details will be discussed with those who are short-listed.
You can find out more about the school on our website : www.pislao.com and on our Facebook page pissavannakhet .
