This is a rare chance to lead teaching & learning in a three times outstanding special school in a brand new building with excellent facilities. Please read the personal message from the Headteacher and look up our website: www.stormonthouse.hackney.sch.uk

Many students struggle with maths in mainstream schools, especially those with SEN. So how about ‘cracking it’ in an outstanding special school for a few years and then maybe taking that expertise back into maths leadership in mainstream? Let’s face it, maths will still be a shortage subject in a few years’ time! (Of course, you might love it so much that you stay for longer).

Stormont House School is an unusual and widely-respected special school that had its third ‘outstanding’ inspection in March 2014. Our maths accreditation offer at Key Stage 4 includes Entry Level Certificate, GCSE and Maths Functional Skills. In the Sixth Form we focus on extending/ deepening the practical application of those functional skills.  We believe that collaboration with other schools is vital and are lead members of the Hackney Teaching Schools’ Alliance.

This position will play a vital part in leading us towards our vision of ‘Achievement for All in a Unique World-Class School’. If you are a first-class teacher and passionate about the difference an excellent school can make to young people’s ability to learn, express themselves and become active global citizens, please get in touch.

We offer a diverse and vibrant curriculum, including the National Curriculum, which is tailored to meet students’ needs by exciting, supporting and challenging them. We expect our students to make the best progress possible; socially, emotionally and academically.

We set out to combine the very positive aspects of primary education with the specialist subjects of secondary in order to provide the best quality education possible. The maths department has both primary and secondary trained teachers

Please look at the uploaded documents and ring the Headteacher, Kevin McDonnell on (020) 8985 4245 for an informal discussion about the position. Don’t worry if you don’t have special school experience: very few of us did before we came here!

School visits on Wednesday 03 May (morning) and Thursday 04 May (afternoon).  Please call Brenda Vanriel on 020 8985 4245 to book a space.

Closing date for receipt of emailed applications is 9am Wednesday 10th May
Interviews:  w/c 15th May 2017

About Stormont House School

Stormont House School is an exceptional and widely-respected special school whose pupils achieve up to GCSE/BTEC levels. We became one of the first outstanding schools in the country in 2005 and have improved at each of the 4 full inspections since then (most recently in 2018). We were in the first group of special schools to receive the World-Class Schools Quality Mark and work with other schools as a National Support School and as a lead school within the Hackney Teaching Schools’ Alliance.
