Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of maths to join our mathematics department and teach the subject at all levels. This post could suit an ECT as well as a more experienced candidate.

You will be working in a very cohesive and supportive department that is committed to providing a high-quality maths education for all of our pupils. We have invested in White Rose Maths, for our curriculum materials and CPD offering, and Sparx and Dr Frost Maths for homework in KS3-4 and 5 respectively. We want everyone to have the time and space to improve their skills, whether that is students or staff, and as a department, we will continue to invest in this.

The successful candidate will have a strong and secure knowledge of the GCSE curriculum, in addition you will have a strong understanding of the KS5 curriculum content. You will be able to maintain and build on a culture of success where all feel valued and proud of their achievements. You will be ably supported by motivated members of the Maths Team so that we can deliver excellent outcomes for all our students whatever their starting point.

We are committed to all students developing a love of mathematics and a desire to achieve the very best they can. Mathematics is the most popular option subject in our sixth form. We offer Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A Level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: -

  • a passion for mathematics and teaching and have excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding
  • they are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is experienced in teaching maths at key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • the ability to motivate, challenge, support and inspire students to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • outstanding success at achieving consistently good results in mathematics, at least, at key stage 3 and key stage 4
  • the ability to create and facilitate highly challenging and engaging lessons
  • aspiration to progress their career in the future at the time which is right for them
  • they are optimistic, positive, cheerful and develop others to flourish.
