Clay Hill School are looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher to join our Teaching team!

We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils.  

The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

Clay Hill School is an independent specialist day school for young people with learning difficulties, autism and associated complex needs. We provide education, therapies and support for young people aged 5 to 19 years.

Clay Hill School is an effective provision providing small group education, individualised therapy, and a carefully and creatively constructed curriculum which develops a love of learning and gives our young people the best possible outcomes. 

A calm, purposeful and caring environment is provided, which combined with high staff to pupil ratios, ensures that every pupil at Clay Hill School has the opportunity to develop their ability, share new experiences and reach their full potential in a secure and safe environment.

We are looking for an empathetic and creative teacher/instructor to support pupils who need additional support to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

We would also accept an Unqualified teacher, although qualified preferred.

Indeed, we believe that all pupils have the potential to flourish and thrive, and this role will require an imaginative individual who is capable of unearthing teaching and learning strategies that will engage and spark the interests of pupils who are struggling to access the standard curriculum.  

As such, this exciting new role will involve leading and implementing bespoke programmes of study for pupils in 1:1 or very small groups to access both the academic and enrichment curriculum both in school and the wider community. This will include the following responsibilities:

•   To create imaginative and bespoke curriculum packages for pupils who are having difficulties with the standard curriculum. 

•   To provide academic tuition across a broad range of subject areas, using creative ways to make learning accessible and meaningful.

•   Through new and exciting enrichment trips and opportunities, foster the social and emotional development of pupils by exposing them to new and meaningful experiences.

•   To implement a wide range of teaching and learning strategies to re-engage learners.

•   To work in liaison with the wider teaching, pastoral and therapy team to build holistic interventions, both in and out of school, that will encourage improvements in both attendance and engagement. 

•   To create learning opportunities in the community that improve the life experiences and capital culture of our pupils. 

•   To offer short, medium and long term qualification opportunities that celebrate the talents of pupils. 

•   To contribute to the Annual Review and PEP process, ensuring that the needs of pupils, as outlined in their EHCPs, are being met. 

•   To support with transition process between our internal provisions and with external bodies/partners. 

Required:

•   A full UK driving license

Preferential:

•   To have had experience of working with pupils with SEN, in particular those with behaviours that challenge

•   To have had experience of leading and delivering to small groups, evidencing excellent progress

•   Experience or desire to work with all relevant Key stages.

Clay Hill School is an independent, specialist day school for young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Attachment Disorder and associated complex needs. We provide education for up to 42 young people aged 5 to 19 years
