About the School:

Set in 30 acres of grass and woodland, Cambian Spring Hill School is a mixed independent specialist day/residential school for children aged 8 to 19, catering for children across the Autistic spectrum often with associated additional needs. Our dedicated multi-disciplinary team of staff work together to ensure successful outcomes for students who often make rapid and sustained progress from starting points.  All of our students have an EHCP.

We pride ourselves in delivering personalised learning approaches to support our children and young people and our clinical, education and care teams work cohesively to support their emotional wellbeing needs.  We prioritise developing levels of independence so that every individual has the best possible chance to thrive in today’s society.

About the Role:

The Principal is seeking to appoint an aspiring Maths Teacher/Numeracy Lead to join this remarkable specialist ASD Residential Special School. Reporting to the Head of Education, they will be responsible for the delivery of engaging and challenging lessons, ensuring that the department and the school are successful in achieving its aims and children and young people make progress from baselines. You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and affable individual who shares our values and is looking to develop their career in this specialist area.

Who are we looking for?

While experience within a SEN specialist provision would be desirable, we will consider applications from those who are currently working in a mainstream or alternative provision setting.  Applications from NQT’s are welcomed.

Subject specialism is essential for this post as is the knowledge of current best practice in your chosen subject.

Training and development will be provided for the successful candidate in line with the identified needs of the school, the skills of the individual and their prospective career progression.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons that pique their interest and curiosity and meet specific numeracy based objectives as identified in individual EHCP’s and PEP’s
  • Manage learner expectations and levels of engagement, using approaches which are appropriate to individual need
  • Work constructively with learning support staff and the clinical team in order to effectively manage student anxiety effectively to ensure an enjoyable and safe working environment
  • Know and understand how to assess the relevant subject and curriculum areas you teach, including statutory assessment requirements


Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of teaching at KS2, KS3 or KS4 in a specialist or mainstream setting
  • A positive work ethic to ensure the needs of all students
  • Is passionate about making learning enjoyable and relevant
  • Qualified in subject specialism
  • Enhanced DBS cleared and satisfactory references
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Have a cheerful disposition and a good sense of humour!
