Job overview

Thank you for taking the time to look at our advert for a maths teacher based at our Bretonside site in Plymouth. This vacancy has arisen through the resignation of a member of the maths team to take up a head of department role elsewhere and you will play a key role in the next phase of the department’s journey.

You will be part of a small team of maths specialists delivering high quality teaching and learning at our Bretonside site. Our expectation is that all our year 11 pupils leave with a recognised qualification in mathematics. You will be teaching groups of up to 10 mixed ability KS3 and KS4 pupils, each group is supported by a dedicated Learning Mentor. Classes follow a mainstream style curriculum with 6 lessons a day including English, maths, sciences, humanities, PSHE, citizenship, art, PE, design technology and others. You may also teach some of our Outreach and WRAP pupils on a one to one basis online.

We are keen to meet candidates from mainstream settings who want to take on the challenge of supporting young people whose needs can only be met by the exceptional staff at ACE.

ACE Schools Plymouth AP Academy (part of Transforming Futures Trust) was formally set up on 1st June 2016 with the aim of building on the solid foundation established by the previous PRU. ACE Schools operates around Plymouth from at least eight different locations and provide education and support services throughout the community to support pupils to access education in schools, medical facilities or their own homes.

As an alternative provision Academy, ACE Schools Plymouth has developed a great reputation both locally and nationally for the work that it does. The school’s performance, size and services mean that it is one of the leading alternative providers of education in the UK and it is in a good position to help grow and develop education services both within Plymouth and beyond.
