We are looking to appoint an innovative and dynamic teacher of Maths, to teach Maths from Fourth Form (Year Nine) to A level, and Statistics to GCSE. The appointment is temporary and for a term only, from September to December.
Details of the Role
The successful candidate will teach Maths from Fourth Form (Year 9) to A level, and Statistics at GCSE level.
Pupils study Maths in streamed classes from Fourth Form (Year 9) to GCSE. We also offer Statistics GCSE as a popular optional subject. Many pupils go on to study A level Maths, with a small, but keen cohort studying Further Maths A level each year.
The Maths Department has dedicated classrooms in our Hastings building, which is close to the school’s multi-purpose library, a space that is used extensively by pupils.
All classrooms have interactive white boards with full wireless internet access for all pupils. All pupils have laptops and blended learning using various digital media is a strong feature of what we do. Culford uses iSAMS and the Google Suite of Applications, including Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Drive and Google Sheets and a range of educationally-approved AI platforms such as Magic School. Whilst experience in the use of these products would be advantageous, full training will be given as necessary to the successful candidate.
We offer a vibrant set of extra-curricular opportunities for pupils, including external speakers, competitions and Maths-related societies and trips.
From September 2025, academic lessons will be taught from Monday to Friday allowing time on Saturday mornings for our ACE Programme (Academic and Co-Curricular Enrichment). In the life of our busy boarding school, teachers are currently expected to deliver enrichment activities on approximately 50% of Saturday mornings. For this temporary role, Saturday mornings are optional and by agreement.

We have connections with the Teachers’ Development Trust and the Chartered College of Teaching, and seek to offer a wide range of professional development opportunities to all staff. We aim to ensure that our pupils are receiving the best possible experience in the classroom, while our staff are supported in developing their careers.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
• Teach and inspire pupils of a range of ability, from Fourth Form (Year 9) to A level
• Teach Maths and Statistics to GCSE and A level
• Be an ambassador for Maths within the school
• Care for a tutor group of around 12 pupils
• Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activity programme, including the coordination and leading of overseas trips
