We have eight teachers and a one-to-one tutor. The department is predominantly made up of experienced specialist maths staff and some more recent entrants to the profession, including a primary maths specialist. Teaching takes place in the department’s eight classrooms. Every classroom has a large television screen which can be used interactively and a visualiser and these are used extensively by the team.

Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Academy Freeston is the place for you. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at a leadership level.

You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools. Our Executive Director for Maths leads Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub and there are a significant number of opportunities for you to get involved in the fantastic projects they run.

If you are interested in joining this team, please contact Melanie Lee, Regional Director of Maths, who would be pleased to tell you more, either by email (m.lee@outwood.com) or telephone (07525 834098), and we would be delighted to welcome you on a visit if you would like to see us in person.
