About the Opportunity

At The Peak Academy, we are passionate about opening up opportunities to develop adolescent minds of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. No child should miss out on the opportunity to build on physical and mental skills that will allow doors to open for them in the pursuit of a successful adulthood, whatever their background.

We at The Peak Academy have our very own garage for vocational learning in Mechanics and it is a popular subject for our students; allowing for expression and thought therefore, we are looking to recruit an innovative and resourceful Mechanics Instructor, with the passion and ability to inspire our students to develop their creative natures. While it is essential that our successful candidate is a qualified mechanic, if you are new to being an instructor, full support will be put in place to ensure a smooth start.

Team work is important to us at The Peak – we work hard and we work together as a team, teaching pupils aged 11-16 years old. We are looking for someone who has the passion to teach their subject as well as the flexibility to help out colleagues in other areas where needed. Our team ethos means that every member of staff can feel supported by their colleagues, on good days and not-so-good days.

We thoroughly believe in a healthy work-life balance and we are structured alternatively so that everyone in the team joins together on break duty and everyone receives PPA time. As a member of our team at The Peak, you will have opportunities for ongoing professional development, and as Mechanics Instructor you will have the chance to teach pupils about bike maintenance, go-karts and motorbikes.

Teaching in an alternative environment requires an alternative approach and we are looking for someone with understanding of the SEMH sector to take this subject to new heights within our Academy for our students, who are eager to learn!

About You

BTEC, City of Guilds or equivalent certified in Mechanics

Previous or current experience teaching students of secondary and/or SEMH background

Further details on our exciting opportunity can be found on our supporting, downloadable job description and person specification alongside our benefits booklet and Little Green Book of our ethos and values.
