Job overview

We are looking for an experienced medical professional to join our Medical and Welfare Team on a full-time during term time basis. Your hours will be 08:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday inclusive. Successful candidates will be able to step in seamlessly to work as part of a small on-site Medical and Welfare team, as well as independently, in order to provide outstanding first aid and medical treatment to our pupils and staff throughout the school day.

He/she should be organised, able to work under pressure, able to communicate clearly and be computer literate (a knowledge of SIMS would be advantageous). A strong understanding of Child Protection issues and best practice is essential. School nursing experience would be an advantage, as would experience in paedriatric nursing, adolescent health and/or A&E. A First Aid at Work Certificate will be required. We are pleased to consider applications from a variety of suitably qualified medical professionals, such as registered Nurses, Associate Nurses, Paramedic or Healthcare professionals. A RSCN, RN-Child or RGN qualification is not required for this role. Of paramount importance is a friendly, approachable personality; excellent communication skills; and an ability to work independently with confidence.

The post will require you to work during the term time plus 5 staff and INSET days. Additional work could be available, by mutual agreement, at the weekend and outside regular term times for extra-curricular activities, sporting fixtures and school trips. School lunches are provided during term-time.

Working hours:

  • This is a 5 day per week role during term-time, plus 5 days in the school holidays, to include staff and Inset days.
  • Working hours will be 08:00 to 17:00. Part time hours may be considered for the right candidate.

Holidays:

  • The post-holder is entitled to Teaching holidays, less 5 staff and Inset days per annum in the school holidays, plus Bank Holidays.
  • Annual leave must be taken during School holidays. A timetable is published annually. Any variances must be agreed with the Headteacher.

The start date will be agreed at appointment stage and will be as soon as possible on the completion of all required pre-appointment checks. The start date of our Summer Term is 18 April 2023 but an earlier start date in March would be preferable for this role.

The Harrodian School is a mixed, non-denominational all-through independent day school situated in Barnes, South West London. The Harrodian School was founded by Lady Eliana and Sir Alford Houston-Boswell and opened in 1993. The school’s original intake of 65 students has expanded to over 900 students from the ages of 4-18. It offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a music centre, drama studios and expansive grounds.
