Job overview

Joining us as Mental Health & Well Being Officer, you will be the first point of contact for learners with emerging or complex mental health concerns to turn to for advice and support. You will take a holistic and person-centred approach to supporting learners which will include clinical mentoring and supervision for urgent mental health incidents.

We’re looking for an individual who has a recognised diploma or degree in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or who has a relevant professional qualification in mental health practice. With a full and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Mental Health, you will possess substantial post qualification experience in a clinical role to include managing caseloads, carrying out risk assessments, writing support plans and dealing with crisis intervention.

With excellent team working skills and a high level of self-motivation, you will have experience of working in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and be experienced in facilitating referrals to secondary mental health services such as CAHMS and IAPT as appropriate.

This position is based at Carshalton College, however you may be required to work across both Merton and Carshalton from time to time.

We will also consider applications from candidates who would like to work on a term-time basis for 40 weeks per annum. Salary for 36 hours per week, working 40 weeks per annum - £25,604 to £29,403 inclusive of London Weighting Allowance.

Carshalton College is a co-educational further education college based in Sutton. It is a non-denominational school.

The college has been an education provider for over 60 years. It is a major provider of full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, access, undergraduate and supported learning courses.
