Job overview
Under the direction of the midday supervisor, phase leader & leadership team, to effectively supervise pupils during the lunch period, providing a continuous presence. To ensure the safety, welfare and conduct of pupils in accordance with school policy. To engage with children in play and ensure playground equipment is used safely and appropriately. To ensure playground equipment is stored correctly and securely. To put out equipment at the beginning of the lunchtime and ensure it is put away at the end of lunchtime.
Midday Assistants have a shared role within the school in helping to raise the social achievements of pupils. They are responsible for ensuring that lunchtimes are an enjoyable and safe experience for all the children, so that they are physically and mentally prepared to learn during the afternoon.

Sybourn Primary School and Children’s Centre is a three-form-entry, co-educational, non-denominational primary academy for children aged 3-11, situated in Walthamstow, East London. It has nursery provision for foundation years as well as daycare facilities for 0-3 years. There are currently 670 pupils and the school is part of the Lion Academy Trust.
The school was initially founded as a mixed school in 1903 in temporary buildings. Construction work was completed in 1910 for the main building. Sybourn Primary School is rated as “good” by Ofsted.

“Outstanding leadership from leaders and governors has brought about rapid improvement since the school became an academy. Teaching and achievement have improved considerably and are now good. Children make a good start in the well-resourced and stimulating early years’ provision. Teachers give pupils clear guidance about what they are learning and have high expectations of their work. Almost all pupils are from a range of minority ethnic backgrounds. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is high, including many at the early stages of speaking English.”
