Job overview

PURPOSE

To support the delivery of the highest quality learner data management with specific responsibility for ensuring maximum efficiency in data processing.

To take a lead role on automating ILR production and import into related college systems, standardised data-checking, automated data-correction routines, data manipulation / interrogation and associated reports.


DUTIES

To be part of the MIS team providing data management services to all customers (both internal and external) including curriculum planning, timetabling, registers, ILR production, funding returns and resource utilisation.

To develop and enhance high-level skills and knowledge of the student records management system and other associated software applications to deliver a consistently high level of data accuracy/validity

 To contribute to the on-going development of relevant MIS reports and to promote their usage within the college.

To provide support to the MIS Officers and MIS Assistants in the creation of the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) file and other funding returns for the various funding streams drawn down by the College.

To keep abreast of changes to funding methodology to ensure that all customers are given consistent and accurate information.

Identify and implement efficient procedural, technical and software solutions to enhance the quality of learner data.

To possess data interrogation and manipulation skills and to develop and maintain automated solutions to ensure ILR / data processing and editing is efficient and standardised.

To work with the MIS & Exams Manager in developing and maintaining a high-quality reporting functionality via Reporting Dashboards and power apps

Maintain technical documentation including but not limited to version control, licencing information, server configuration and software

Manage and maintain the software systems as required including: system documentation, form design, user security, process implementation, fields names and labels, KPI dashboards and reporting.

Assist with the creation and maintenance of knowledge libraries that could be used to train and support the end users.

To utilise appropriate project planning tools and work with the MIS and Exams Manager and MIS Officers to deliver college projects and enhancements to current technologies.

Further development and deployment of application software to support a culture of “Right First Time” thereby reducing the need for manual intervention.

To develop and enhance data warehouses and other data sharing processes between the different college databases

To develop and maintain effective, supportive working relationships with all users of the service.

To contribute to management discussions and decisions related to the software solutions used for MIS.

To contribute to the design and review of relevant policies and procedures.

To provide support to and work collaboratively with other members of the Funding and Information directorate team as directed.

Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.

Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.

Hopwood Hall College is a further education college located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The college was first established in 1992, and since its founding has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation, including the installation of a brand-new technology centre in 2012 which provides facilities for studying motor vehicle maintenance, engineering and brickwork. Although the college had previously contained its own sixth form centre, since 2010 Hopwood Hall has concentrated solely on vocational qualifications for school leavers, along with its extensive adult-education programmes. The college occupies two main sites, located close by to each other in Greater Manchester, each providing a range of high-quality teaching facilities.

Hopwood Hall College offers a huge range of subjects from entry-level courses up to foundation degrees, with part-time provision available for adult students looking to pursue their qualifications while working. In terms of younger students, Hopwood Hall begins accepting students at age 14, providing entry-level vocational qualifications and, potentially, apprenticeships for Key Stage 4 pupils looking to study outside of school. We have a purpose-built Salon, Restaurant and Technology Centre as well as extensive Sports and Animal Care facilities. Outside of study, the college also works hard to foster a sense of community among its students, playing host to a range of recreational common areas for students to relax and socialise.

They have established good links with community groups to engage with learners who have not participated in education and training for some time. These learners benefit from the development of their essential English and mathematical skills, including English for speakers of other languages; they are progressing to further study and/or employment.”
