Dubai Heights Academy is a warm and welcoming place to work. We opened in 2017 and offer an inclusive, exciting and outstanding education to an international community of students from FS1 to Year 9 (August 2022) and will continue to grow organically to Year 13.

Dubai Heights Academy has partnered with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to deliver a bespoke literacy and social-emotional learning programme to students in Year 1 and Year 2, through a robot literacy station designed by researchers at MIT’s Media Lab.

We currently have an opening for an educational consultant to serve as a MIT research representative of the Early Childhood Literacy project in Dubai to be based at our school


This is a part-time role and the successful candidate should already be in the UAE.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with MIT on research objectives toward the supporting students' social emotional learning with social robots.
  • Work with teachers and the Inclusion team at DHA to schedule student studies. 
  • Run robot studies with students as per the schedule negotiated with teachers. This involves managing timetables for participants, escorting them to/from the study room, starting the session, recording and uploading data, and taking observation notes.
  • Accommodate for special considerations for students with diverse needs while running the studies, as informed by the Inclusion team at DHA and MIT team.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of robots and systems per guidance from MIT researchers and support from the DHA IT Department (required skills are similar to basic smartphone skills including turning on/off the device, setting up wifi, activate/close an app, use the web browser, etc.)
  • Gather and report on local feedback from students, teachers, and parents on their experience with robots and curriculum, including conducting interviews with all stakeholders. 
  • Attend online staff meetings with MIT as needed.


Qualifications

  • Great people skills working with young students (ages 5-9), parents, and teachers
  • Experience in working with students of determination (i.e., special needs) preferred
  • Good observational note-taking skills and schedule management skills
  • Fluent at using Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets and MS Office, and managing files on a computer, i.e., backing up camera memory cards to a designated location, sharing files in Google Drive, by email or on Slack
